Keeper of the Stacks
Mickey here, the owner and maker of Back of the Stacks!
As someone who is terrible at introducing themselves, I decided to do the obligatory intro post; so here goes nothing!
Currently I’m a twenty-something working a full-time job while still trying figure out their life. I’ve been around books since I was young, with my earliest memories of them being my mom’s massive personal library. So shout out mom for the love of reading and need to spend my entire paycheck at Barnes & Noble.
Though I’m open to reading most genres, I really fell in love with fantasy and myth, and how easy it was for me to immerse myself in the story. I couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like if I were apart of the story, and the world building that was the foundation of such tales.
Can you tell I’m a lore goblin?
Present day I still try to read as much as I can with a full-time job and sleeping habits of an eighty year old grandma, and one day I hope to write and share stories of my own.
So what is Back of the Stacks really? Well there is a variety of things one can find in the back sections of libraries or bookshops, sometimes you find the disorganized chaos of forgotten stacks of books, bins on bins of books with those all to neon orange discount stickers, or the section of books you don’t want your mother to know you read (Sorry, mom). You’ll see it around here a lot, but Back of the Stacks is for those who don’t often figure out the plot of a book in a straight line and have to make some weird flow chart that makes you look like some wild conspiracy theorists. For those who either make every facial expression under the sun while reading, or are stone faced killers while reading AO3 at 3am on their laptop; you know the ones.
Here you will find all to unhinged book reviews, unaesthetic irl book content, and the occasional update of my own writings!
I hope you join me on this journey, and I can’t wait to get started.
